I went to MOPS yesterday morning at a local church. It was a coffee house theme and was fun and everything, but one thing specifically will stay with me. I met the coolest baby. I nearly asked to take a photo of him to show Michael, but I refrained. I don't want to be forever categorized as the crazy lady by my new friend and his mom. And, let's be honest, there's a 100% chance that I would agonize about wanting to post the photo on this blog, and that's not cool when you're talking about another person's child.
So, what is so cool about this little boy? Let's start with his attire, which is what first caught my attention...specifically, his cardigan. What? Yes, cardigan. On a male. A very small male. It was white and blue striped. Well, more like cream and a blue shade between teal and navy. Beautiful, I tell ya. And to top it off, it had elbow patches. ELBOW PATCHES. Just as I thought elbow patches couldn't get any cooler, I see a 10-month old pulling them off.
He also had on a grayish pair of jeans that appeared to be of the skinny variety.
After taking in all this cuteness, I observed what sat atop his head. Cute, blonde baby hair. Short. And styled into the sweetest baby faux-hawk. His mother told me that she has styled his hair like this so frequently, that she doesn't even need to use product in it. Just brushes it up after his bath and voila. Instant cuteness.
While I don't think I can mold Asher's hair into that amazing style that is the faux-hawk (his hair is too long and I'm doubtful he would cooperate), I can attempt to make him cooler through his clothing. This will be somewhat of a challenge due to my current intake of the book Seven (and my subsequent - and likely temporary - boycott(ish) of clothes shopping), but we can work with layers, right?

Asher and I didn't get along so well today. My hidden stash of chocolate chips and Nutella (don't tell Michael) helped to get me through it. But the silver lining was really tonight after I put Asher to bed. I prayed with him, and we played a little. I had his teddy bear and tiger popping up around the crib singing "Manamana" (courtesy of The Muppet Babies). Asher loved it. When I walked by his bedroom later, I heard his little voice utter "manamana" (also his same word for "banana") periodically, in a distinctly different, gravelly voice. How cute is that?!

Also, friends, I finished our taxes today. Sweet relief.
