Fun with Cupcakes

Puffy

This is the outfit I wore this morning:

I didn't realize until I arrived at work, that I was basically wearing the Puffy Shirt that Jerry Seinfeld wore in a Season 5 episode. I told a co-worker my realization, and right before I left for the day, I noticed this photo in my email inbox!!!

But I don't wanna be a pirate!

Way-Back Wednesday

I used to listen to this radio station on the way to work. I was happy to have discovered such an entertaining morning show for my long commute. One of the funniest segments they do is the phone tap. A listener emails the station with a prank they’ve come up with to play on a relative, friend, co-worker, etc. Then one of the DJs calls the relative, for example, and pretends to be someone else. . .maybe a policeman, a teacher at their kid’s school, a neighbor. . .and carries out the prank. The entire premise of the call is to get the targeted person riled up. The original person who wanted to play the prank will usually get in on the phone call as well. The DJs stop at NOTHING to get the target infuriated. It often pushes the envelope, but I usually laughed out loud at the conversations.

About a month ago, I began to feel convicted about listening to the station. . .not because of the music, but the conversation content – and the phone taps. So I don’t listen anymore, but I’m borrowing they’re terminology. On Wednesdays the station re-plays old phone taps – from years ago, usually. They call it Way-Back Wednesday.

So I decided to have a little fun and share an old photo each Wednesday. At the least it will ensure that I post regularly!

So for the first Way-Back Wednesday:
I think this might have been an actual bowl cut!!!

Sunday Morning

I feel quite productive. . .more so than I have in a while actually. Yesterday I checked, like, 10 things off of my list! And this morning before church, I did some yoga, got a load of laundry done, made blueberry muffins, and ate them.

Maybe I can make this productivity a habit.

Morning Commute

Normally, I feel very bitter about my commute to work. And I don’t much like setting my clock ahead an hour, as cute as they try to make it sound. . .Spring Forward! Yay! More light at night! Blech.

But this morning on my drive to work, when the sun was rising over the hills, I was so thankful to be able to witness the beauty in God’s creation at that moment. . .even though it was 7:15 AM (6:15 AM to my Daylight Savings Time hating body) and I normally would have preferred to be sleeping. I put on a little Shane (Barnard) and Shane (Everett) – Psalm 118 (This is the Day) - and enjoyed my moments with God before the craziness of the day set in.

As I reflect on my drive this morning, I think I might finally be getting that it’s really about perspective.
