New Week, Please

The last seven days have been an interesting first week (of the 3rd round) of Weight Watchers and seventh week (of the 2nd round) of Couch to 5k. Each of us were sick at various times, though I'm not 100% I can pinpoint where it began. I suspect Asher, who was sick first (and for the 1st time in his life with the flu), got it from one of the other children at MOPS last week. Thankfully, his bout lasted less than 24 hours. Here he his with his barf pail.

Isn't he sweet? He was happy because he was watching the Veggie Tales Jonah movie. Pronounced "doe-bye", Jonah makes everything better.

Then Michael got sick. Like bad. Was in bed all day on Friday. Then I got sick after eating my curry dish, which you may remember, for dinner. I'm not convinced that's what caused it. I mean, I've made this dish before and had no problem. But let's just say I won't be making curry for a while.

The bright side of all of this - for me anyway - is that I lost a few pounds in the process. I've since gained the sickness weight-loss back, unfortunately. I'm hoping I'm still down a couple pounds from last week though. We'll see in the morning.

Week 7 of the Couch to 5k program has me running 25 minutes straight. Well, I actually made it today. I was feeling fantastic, and confused as to why I didn't have a more difficult time with it. I had a sneaking suspicion that the treadmill was at a decline. Michael confirmed it. Makes me nervous for my next run, now that the machine has been adjusted.

Can't I just go back to eating whatever I want and not running? Who's dumb idea was it to do start eating and exercise plan anyway?

Couch, Please

I'm in week 4 of the Couch to 5k program. I still hate running. But not as much as I hate cleaning, but more than I like steaming. Here is a list of some things that I do daily and/or weekly from most to least hated:

5. Cleaning almost anything
4. Running/exercise/5k
3. Picking up toys
2. Steaming the floor
1. Couch

Is it bad that I ate a packet of m&m's while I walked during my walk/jog? Does it help that it was a fun size?

Shoes and Seeds

It's annoying to me that while I'm doing anything other than sitting at a computer, and without the option of stopping and getting to a computer, I think of dozens of topics to blog about. Yet when I sit to actually write something, I come up blank. This is generally why a hodge-podge of ideas end up spewing out randomly. So here we go again.

I've begun week 2 of Couch to 5k, and I have to say, today's run/walk went very well. I think this is due to several factors.

#1 I slept incredibly well last night. And when I awoke (by myself, not to an alarm, I might add), the sun was streaming in the partly open window with cool air flowing around. How could I not have a great day with that start?

#2 I ordered new running shoes! We stopped by a sporting goods store this morning, and I got fitted for shoes. They were VERY expensive at that store, so I looked at roadrunnersports.com when I got home and found them for 30% less! Oh, and I used shopathome.com to get an extra 10% back. (Please tell me you use shopathome.com or ebates.com for every online purchase you make!) Anyway, my excitement about having ordered the shoes carried over to my run/walk.
#3 I thought there were more than two reasons, but I can't come up with a third now.

Also, I ordered vegetable seeds last night finally! From seedsnow.com.

Very excited for them to arrive. I ended up getting:

  • Leaf lettuce
  • Arugula
  • Spinach
  • Red and White onions
  • Snap peas
  • Brandywine tomatoes
  • Cherry tomatoes

I also picked up various containers today. And a few tools. Now I just need some potting soil, which I plan to get this week from a local nursery. I sure hope I enjoy gardening.

One more thing, how cute is this kid?!
