I've started a new blog! Not in place of this one, but in addition to. Michael and I watch a lot of movies, and I always want to tell my friends which ones I love or what I suggest they avoid. So here's my way of doing that! (Forgive the title of my blog - it's pretty pathetic!)
When you write you lay out a line of words . . .the line of words is a hammer . . .the line of words feels for cracks in the firmament . . .the line of words fingers your own heart . . .you wield it, and it digs a path you follow (Annie Dillard, The Writing Life)

Yoga
Has anyone tried yoga? I mean tried it and is good at it? Last week I decided to try a yoga class at the gym I've been going to. It was REALLY good. And REALLY hard. This leads me to a question: how long will it take me to get pretty good (i.e. be able to do the poses correctly without thinking I might pass out) at yoga if I do it twice a week?

Love Day
Michael and I celebrated Valentine's Day this year a couple of days early down near Philly. He was down there for work, so I joined him for the evening. We enjoyed our favorite meal at Cheesecake Factory. Yum! And we out at the mall in King of Prussia. This is a HUGE mall. Someone at work told me that you cannot get from one end to the other in a day. I loved it of course. :o)
I have to admit that I was quite proud of myself in regards to the gift I got for Michael. I decided to go with a hiking theme, since he's mentioned that he'd like to hike and we're SOOO close to the Appalachian Trail.
Michael surprised me with these beautiful roses delivered to my work. (The ivory roses are purposeful - he knows I prefer them to red!)
And he picked out this amazing jewelry tree. I had actually seen it in a magazine months ago and kind of had my eye on it. Michael totally knows my taste!

Evan Almighty
Michael and I watched Evan Almighty on Friday night. And again this afternoon. It really touched me in a very unexpected way. Yes, it is fairly cheesy, and not as funny as Bruce Almighty. But catch these conversations from the movie:
God (Morgan Freeman): Let me ask you something. If someone prays for patience, do you think God gives them patience, or does he give them the opportunity to be patient? If he prays for courage, does God give him courage, or does He give him opportunities to be courageous? If someone prayed for their family to be closer, do you think God zaps them with warm, fuzzy feelings, or does He give them opportunities to love each other?
And another:
Reporter: What makes you so sure God chose you?
Evan: He chose all of us.
Two thumbs up from me.

NYC - Take II
A couple weeks ago I promised a blog about our second New York City trip. On January 19 we braved the cold (and our safety, I felt) and took the Path into the city. The Path = a train.
Our first stop was Bubba Gump's Shrimp at Times Square for lunch:
The we took the subway north and traveled through Central Park. We walked quickly, as it was quite chilly, but the park was very cool. I definitely want to linger there when it warms up this spring.
Finally we made it to our primary destination for the day: The Met!
